Wonderful things

I know it has been a long time since I've posted anything but we have had our hands full with the birth of our son! On April 23, 2009 we were finally blessed with Rowan! He was born at 9:09pm by c-section at 7lbs. 11 oz. and 20 inches long. It took Will and I a few hours to decide on a name for our little guy, so he was going by baby boy Nead for a bit. But eventually we decided on Rowan which means "Little red-haired one" and amazingly enough he does actually have redish hair. Now I don't know if it will stay that way but we shall see.

Rowan is now almost 6 weeks old and has grown so much already! I'm not ready for him to get bigger but I do look forward to all the fun things that come along as they do get bigger. Will is so good with Rowan, he's become very adept at changing diapers and doing the "burrito wrap."
We are both learning along the way but as frustrating as it can be it is all very wonderful!

Rowan is very good at holding up his head and scooting on his tummy when pushing against our hands. It's amazing how much your life changes with this little person and how little things like finally getting your baby to birb are exciting. Of course eventually you try to get them to stop birbing in public, but for now it makes us proud and everyone thinks it's adorable!

We are blessed to have family so close, both Will's paren
ts and my mom are within a few miles of us and get to see their grandson on a regular basis. Rowan's cousins are close also. Will's sister, Erin, has 2 little ones, one of which is only 6 weeks older than Rowan. My sister, Laura, has 3 children, her youngest is a year old now. So it seems these cousins will get to grow up together and hopefully be great friends.

I was blessed that Will was able to take off a week for paternity leave, unfortunately he was sick most of the time, so we were all sleeping a lot that week. Rowan has been a great sleeper once he's gotten to sleep. Lately it's taken him a bit longer to get there but we've found he loves piano music much like his father, and that really helps him fall to sleep.

I, sadly, will be going back to work in 2 weeks and will be leaving Rowan with his Aunt Erin who lives just 10 minutes from where Will works and about 15 minutes from where I work. I know it is going to be very difficult to leave him for that long but I know God will give me the grace to go to work and do what needs to be done.

I will be posting some videos soon of Rowan, he is so cute!!!

  1. I'm so glad you blogged again!!! And so excited for you and Will....you guys look like you've already totally got the hang of the whole newborn thing. Hope Tim and I learn as quickly! :) And seriously, Mari- Rowan really is an absolutely gorgeous little boy. (And I am not one those people who thinks every baby is cute...there are definitely some weird-looking kiddos out there!! Haha) I can't wait to see more pictures and videos! :)
